Materials:
Clindamycin Hcl 150 mg. capsules …………………4 capsulesIsopropyl alcohol (or Ethanol) ……………………….42 ml.Propylene glycol ………………………………………6 ml.Water ………………………………………………….12 ml

Procedure:1- Add the *******s of four 150 mg. Clindamycin Hcl capsules to 30 ml of the solvent above; shake for 30 seconds and repeat2- 3 times for 10 to 15 minutes.2- Filter the solution, then add another 30 ml of the solvent; Shake for 30 seconds, filter, and bring the volume to 60 ml

Stability: 6 weeks

Comment:1- A solvent consisting of 20 % water v/v provides a suitable solubility for the hydrochloride salt of clindamycin.2- If the concentration of water is less than 20 %, clindamycin solubility decreases.3- If the concentration of water is greater than 20 %, appreciable amount of lactose may be precipitate out after dispensing.4- 2% solution can be prepared by the same procedure.
