Coment Allopurinol is xanthenes oxidase inhibitor used as anti-gout; uric acid
lowering agent. It used in the treatment of secondary hyperuricemia that may occur during treatment of tumers, leukemia; prevention of recurrent calcium oxalate calculi.

Doses:
Children < 10 years: 10 mg/kg/day in 2-3 divided doses with normal renal function.
Children > 10 years and *****: 300 mg/day in divided doses.

Universal vehicle
Composed of simple syrup : methyl cellulose 1 % solution in the ratio 3:7

Methycellulose 1 % solution

Methycellulose (or Carboxymethylcellulose sodium) 10 gm
Sodium benzoate 2 gm
Water to. 1000 ml

Dissolve sodium benzoate in about 200 ml of boiling water.
Add methylcellulose powder to the boiled water and stir well for 2-3 minutes.
Add the remaining amount of water (should be ice cold) carefully but quick and stir or blend well for 10 minutes.
Transfer to 1 liter bottle; place on side and refrigerate overnight for at least. 4 hours until creamy thick white liquid convert to a clear gel.
